A good workout and a sense of community is what Creed Fitness is offering clientele in its grand reopening this week. Previously known as Tribe Fitness for the past four years, Creed Fitness is rebranding as it moves to its new, larger location in Watkinsville.
The name change from Tribe Fitness to Creed Fitness represents the values put forth by the gym and its owner, Clint Watson. Watson was born and raised in Athens and graduated from the University of Georgia in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science.
“We believe that our challenging workouts not only help us get crazy fit, but they also better prepare us to meet the challenges and demands that life brings our way,” Watson said.
Creed Fitness prides itself on individualization, believing exercise is not a one-size-fits-all program. From the one-on-one nutrition coaching to personal training to group classes, Creed tries to stand out among the many gyms in the area.
Classes are around 45 minutes long, aimed at being easy to fit into a busy schedule, yet still challenging and effective.
The new location in Watkinsville at 1971 Hog Mountain Rd. and approximately two miles away from its old location in Athens, will have more space for group sessions and new equipment. The gym will continue with the same class schedule six days a week starting daily at 5:45 a.m.
“We are super excited about our new location,” Watson said. “The layout of the space is much more accommodating for our high intensity workouts, we have all new locker rooms with showers, and a really nice glass garage door to roll up and run out for workouts that have running.”
Creed Fitness provides a strong support system and accountability for its clients as well. This structure of support includes being paired with a trainer who will periodically meet one-on-one to assess progress and guide clients in meeting fitness and nutrition goals, as well as checking in with texts and calls to encourage and hold them accountable. The new space will serve to broaden this culture of accountability for gym coaches and members alike.
“It's every business owner's dream to own their place of business versus renting, so I'm very grateful for the opportunity,” Watson said. “We have rented for the last 4 and a half years so it's nice finally have a permanent fixture for our gym and our members.”
